An Bradan Feasa - opportunities for mindfulness meditation in Drogheda

In the difficult, and often painful, experience of living in today's Ireland, it can be very hard to believe that enduring happiness and peace is, literally, just a thought away.  At this very moment, as you read this, you have the potential for such happiness, you always have had and you always will.  You have, more than likely, looked for such peace and happiness elsewhere but it didn't last.  Yet you somehow feel, deep inside, that such peace is attainable. You are absolutely correct and this is true for all human beings regardless of colour, creed or race.

So is there some trick, some magic formula, intense training or illusion to achieve this?  No, ironically, the "answer" lies in the dropping of all tricks, magic formulas, trainings and illusions.  It is very simple but it is not easy!  For practically our whole life, we have been conditioned to believe that the work of our mind will ultimately lead to a better and more satisfying life.  However, it can come as quite a shock to realise that the opposite effect is often the case.  Excessive and inappropriate thinking is a major contributor to stress, anxiety, depression, addiction, aggression, violence and self-harm including suicide.  While medicine and psychotherapy/counselling are very important and useful crisis interventions, the practice of mindfulness meditation has become increasingly valued, and scientifically validated, as an ongoing way of maintaining a healthy, peaceful and happy mind.

An Bradan Feasa is a small community-based service which offers opportunities for people to learn and practice mindfulness meditation in a respectful and caring environment.

These opportunities arise in the course of a series of group meditation sessions supported by book, CD or DVD based advice from a number of highly regarded spiritual guides such as Eckhart Tolle, Anthony De MelloThich Nhat Hanh and Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj.

An Bradan Feasa welcomes people from all religious/spiritual traditions and those of none.  The service is facilitated on a voluntary basis and is offered free of charge.

An Bradan Feasa is affiliated to The Wheel, the Irish national umbrella body for voluntary/community sector organisations(www.wheel.ie) and to AONTAS, the Irish national adult learning organisation(www.aontas.com).
